Cookies and more cookies!

A yucky day calls for homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies eaten on the couch while watching TV.
Granted I didn't have time to enjoy the cookies in that exact manner, but I did get to bake them. And let me just say they taste delicious!!
Out of the 3 trays that I baked, 2 came out nice and chewy with crispy edges (1 tray was the ugly duckling and turned out more crunchy than chewy, but the taste was still yummy).
I definitely recommend this recipe. Its easy, relatively quick, and yields 27 decent-sized cookies.

Did you say steak?

I am amazed with myself. I f yo know me well enough, you know I don't usually eat steak. Well, tonight I not only had steak, I cooked it!
I found this delicious recipe in a Gourmet Magazine (I am not happy about the fact that it has been discontinued for a while now!!) and decided to give it a try.
Here is the link to the Steak with Pan-Seared Cherry Tomatoes (I didn't use Porterhouse steak because we had some others in the freezer).
As a side I made Oven Roasted Asparagus.
Its a very simple recipe:
  • 1 bunch aspargus
  • 1 1/2 tbsp olive oil
  • salt & pepper
  1. Place oven rack in lower third of the oven and preheat to 500 F.
  2. Toss asparagus (ends cut) with olive oil in a lined baking sheet. Season with S & P.
  3. Cook asparagus until tender, 8-14 minutes, shaking sheet once around halfway.

Back to Basics

I haven't eaten Mac & Cheese probably since I was about 13 years old. I remember asking my mother to make it over and over again, and she did sometimes (a gourmet recipe), but not often.
So I wasn't surprised when I came across a Macaroni and Many Cheeses recipe in a Food and Wine Magazine and felt the urge to make it.
It was a delicious recipe (despite the fact that it didn't brown as the recipe asked for) and it wasn't as heavy as I expected it to be (although I did substitute one cup milk for water).
I made some sauteed vegetables on the side, because we had some leftover in the fridge...
